Happy New Year!
We are back into the swing of things after a wonderful Christmas break.
5th graders are learning about classical composers. So far we've discovered that Beethoven's wig was very big and Mozart toured Europe with his sister when he was a very young boy! Stay tuned for pictures of our powdered wigs!
6th graders will be starting a unit on "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald". We will learn about the history of the storms on the Great Lakes and what happened on that fateful day November 10, 1975. We'll culminate the unit by learning the Gordon Lightfoot song.
7th graders are learning about music of the 1960s. Don't be surprised if you hear them rocking out to Janis Joplin or The Jackson Five when you see them in the hallway! This unit ends with a rousing game of "Family Feud". Parents, guardians and grandparents are all invited to compete . Keep your eyes out for your invitation!
Did you know that William Shakespeare invented words we still use today in our every day lives? Upstairs, lonely, bedroom and elbow are just a few! 8th graders are reading "Romeo and Juliet" and will do a comparison with the musical "West Side Story".
